1 Introduction
Thank you for purchasing a PCE-CSM series colorimeter from PCE Instruments.
The colorimeters PCE-CSM 1, PCE-CSM 2 and PCE-CSM4 are the ideal measuring devices for quality
control and oer great reliability when you need to comply with certain optical requirements. The
colorimeters have an ergonomic design and are equipped with a user-friendly operator interface. The
dierence between the 3 devices is t size of their measuring apertures. he

Please read this manual carefully and completely before you use the device for the rst time. The device
may only be used by qualied personnel and repaired by PCE Instruments personnel. There is no
warranty of damages or injuries caused by non-observance of the manual.
ď‚· This colorimeter is a precise measuring device. Please avoid strong changes in the
environmental conditions. This includes flickering lights as well as changes of the air temperature
or air humidity.
ď‚· The device may only be used in the approved temperature range.
ď‚· Make sure the device is standing right on the measuring spot. Do not move it while the measuring
procedure is in progress. Avoid shocks.
ď‚· Do not expose the device to water. Only use it in areas which fulfil the permitted environmental
conditions.
ď‚· Keep the device clean and prevent dust or other particles from entering the measuring aperture.
To clean the device, use a damp cloth. Do not use solvent-containing materials for cleaning.
ď‚·
The case should only be opened by qualied personnel of PCE Instruments.
ď‚· You must not make any technical changes to the device.
ď‚· The instrument should never be placed with the user interface facing an object (e. g. keyboard
side on a table).
ď‚· If you do not need the device for a longer period of time, please reset the white calibration and
store it in in the carrying case.
