Commercial Freezer/Cooler
Operating instructions
Before you start reading this manual, please
pay attention to the last page showing
pictures and reference numbers.
Operation
To get the max. advantage from your freezer/
cooler it is important that it is placed in the
correct position. You should therefore read
this manual carefully. Keep the manual in
a place where it can always be found for
reference. Even with careful attention to
the freezer, a mishap may occur, with the
consequence that the contents of the cabinet
could be lost, therefore contents insurance is
recommended.
This appliance is not intended for use by
persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack
of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety. Children should
be supervised to ensure that they do not play
with the appliance.
Placing the freezer/cooler
The freezer/cooler should not be placed
where it might be splashed by water, in
extremely high humidity or in direct sunlight,
see drawing no 1. Any of these factors may
lead to a reduction in the performance and
shorten the life span of the components.
The freezer/cooler should be placed on a
horizontal level and it must not be placed
too close to a heating appliance or pipes. The
distances from the appliance should be in
accordance with the sketch no. 1.
Electricity Supply
The electricity supply should always be in
accordance with the rating plate on the back
of the freezer, see sketch 3, here you can read
the voltage(V) and frequency (HZ). The supply
must always be in accordance with the law
and regulation of the country with regards to
electrical safety. If you are in doubt ask your
supplier.
Starting Up
In case the compressor does not start when
the freezer/cooler has been plugged in, the
reason may be that the electricity supply to
the unit is not in order. Check if there is an
electricity supply to the plug or if the fuse is
blown.
Temperature adjusting
Temperature regulation is controlled by the
thermostat, see sketch no. 4. The control is
placed in the compressor compartment.
The higher the number on the dial the lower
the temperature. With some models the
temperature is displayed on the front of the
cabinet.
N.B. with a too low temperature in the
cabinet the power consumption will increase,
therefore check that the thermostat setting is
at a sensible level.
N.B. the stock placed in the cabinet should be
at a temperature of at least -20 degrees C., as
the appliance is not sold as a freezing down
unit, but is meant only to maintain frozen
stock. Warning if the stock you want to place
in the cabinet is only - 15 degrees C.
you risk damage to other items of stock
already in place. It will not help to place
the thermostat at a higher setting. The
temperature for coolers should be around + 4
degrees C.
Loading the freezer
Note: When placing stock in the freezer be
sure, that it is at a temperature of at least -20
degrees C. The contents must never be placed
above the load line, which is marked on the
inside of the cabinet – see sketch 5, otherwise
the contents cannot be kept at the tempe-
rature required for a conservator (-18C).
With coolers the temperature in the cabinet
should be approx. +4 degrees C. If you put too
many items in at one time, the cooler will not
be able to cool them before they are required.
Therefore it is recommended that small loads
are placed in the cabinet each time.
Glass lids
The glass lids on the freezer/cooler are as
vulnerable as any other glass item for scratches
and shock. Therefore you should never place
a glass lid directly on the oor if it is without a
frame. Also you should not place anything on
the glass which might scratch it, thus avoiding
damage or breaking the glass. The glass is
safety glass and can sustain pressure but not
scratches or shock.
N.B. There will be no compensation for
incorrect use.
Defrosting
In order for the freezer to work to its max.
eciency the cabinet should be defrosted
when it has about 2mm thick ice on the
sides. The ice is easily removed with a plastic
scraper. You must never use materials that may
damage the lining of the cabinet. Ice on the
lining is created by humidity and the frequent
use of the freezer. When defrosting, excess
water can be drained out by using the drain
water outlet on the front of the cabinet, see
sketch 6. Remember to close it after use.
Cleaning
Cleaning should be done when needed,
to ensure good performance with the min.
amount of energy consumption. If the freezer
is used in a dirty environment it should be
cleaned more frequently.
Cleaning can be done with a weak soap
solution.
Never use soda or an abrasive cleaning agent,
as these may damage the lining.
Standing freezer
If the freezer/cooler is unplugged and stored
for a period, the lid must be kept open for the
circulation of air in the cabinet. If there is no
circulation in the freezer/cooler the lining may
be stained. If the freezer has been stored for a
longer period, it should be properly cleaned as
described previously before being re-used.
Service
Before calling an engineer for the following
reasons:
1) Not freezing/cooling, - you should check if
there is an electricity supply to the cabinet (is
the fuse blown)?
2) Not freezing enough – check if the
contents have been placed in the box at the
right temperature (-20) (+4 cooler). Is the
vent clean? Is the cabinet correctly placed
with ventilation around the cabinet. Is the
thermostat setting correct?
If you have checked all the above, and still
have a problem, you should contact your
supplier.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, it´s service
agent or similarly qualied persons, in order to
avoid a hazard.
For spare parts and extra items – contact your
supplier.
